Overview
Calling all talented programmers from the Asia Pacific region and the United States! JAXA is seeking your expertise to develop innovative programs that can control Astrobee, a free-flying robot on the International Space Station (ISS), and effectively seal leaks using its laser pointer.
Due to the limited number of programs that can be uploaded to Astrobee, JAXA is inviting top contenders to participate in a competition to identify the most promising solutions. Int-Ball, a camera drone, will assist Astrobee in this critical mission.
Join us in this exciting endeavor and showcase your programming prowess to make a significant contribution to ISS operations. Let’s work together to harness the power of Astrobee and safeguard the ISS from potential hazards.
History
STEMX365 launched 1st KRPC in Bangladesh in 2020 just before the pandemic. Bangladesh students joined in this program as an observer country.
STEMX365 trained Bangladesh students in writing code for Astrobee robot.
Game Story
The air leak caused by the space debris impact
was repaired by a talented student programmer, and peace returned to the ISS.
However, in 2023,
an alert was confirmed from Kibo’s control unit that ammonia,
which is used as a refrigerant for the external control system,
was suspected to have leaked into the ISS.
The number of leakage points increased randomly over time
due to increased pressure in the coolant piping.
Repair the leakage points by laser irradiation of Astrobee!
Game Rule
Mission:
At the game’s commencement, specific targets on the Kibo module will become activated.
Maneuver Astrobee to the location of an activated target and irradiate it with the laser.
Repeat step 2 for each activated target until all activated targets have been irradiated with the laser.
If all activated targets are not irradiated before a predetermined time limit, the activated targets will automatically switch to a new set of targets.
Continue repeating steps 2 to 4, targeting the newly activated targets, for as long as possible until the time limit expires.
Upon reaching the goal within the allotted time limit, report mission completion to a crew member.
Scoring:
Your score will be determined based on the efficiency of laser irradiation and the remaining time.
